Think film star setting, stunning seven star luxury, a totally original headland estate with two private beaches ... Consider an octagonal living room with surrounding balcony, an underground suite carved into the hillside, antique Chinese and Indian doors, unique artworks and a 100-year old Balinese temple ... Expect luxurious furnishings, unrivalled views, exclusivity and seclusion ... All this, and more ...

This unique private estate sits on nearly 10,000sqm of forested headland near Laem Sett, on the desirable south coast of Koh Samui. It has sole use of the two small beaches on either side of the headland providing 180m of beach frontage, safe, year-round swimming, and coral reefs to explore. Lovingly created by the owners over several years, their final masterpiece is proof of the love they bring to this fabulous residence, its comfort coupled with its breathtaking style. Much of the original and natural materials used in its structure were sourced from the far-flung reaches of the east: from Bali, Burma, China, India and Thailand. The natural granite outcrops on the headland are perfectly incorporated into this enthralling hideaway, summoning the Nature's architecture and artistry to the fore. It is a haven of adventure for children who can explore the grounds, pavilions and beach to their hearts' content, and for the adults there is a peaceful tranquillity, a feeling of space, and all within the beautifully bright and inimitable comfort of this truly exceptional, modern domain.

Guests' privacy and exclusivity is guaranteed within the timeless character of this setting, and there is much that can be enjoyed day by day without stepping beyond the boundaries of the property - the beaches, the large infinity-edge swimming pool, the TVs, high definition projectors and screens, Wi-Fi Internet, the yoga sala, the relaxing balcony and sun loungers from which to appreciate the views. But mainstream life is just a few minutes' away, with Samui Aquarium, Butterfly Garden and Tiger Zoo close by, Lamai shopping centre, restaurants and bars a 15-minute drive, the Nam Muang Waterfalls 10 minutes' distant, and Santiburi Golf and Country Club a 30 minute drive. The villa is also a virtual neighbour to the award-winning spa resort and wellness sanctuary of Kamalaya.

All seven bedrooms of the villa are air conditioned, have a TV/DVD system, and a personal safe. Five have en suites, and two share a shower room.

A short driveway through the private gated estate leads to the villa's main entrance, where there is shaded car parking. Beautiful tropical plants and a lamp covered in Spanish moss surround the heavy antique Chinese doors, promising more pleasant surprises within. Follow the stepping stones to the first building through the delightful gardens, beneath the scented plumerias, and the ancient windows and doors hint at their far eastern and Balinese source, and above, the roof shingles from north Thailand are recycled 100 year-old teak.

There are two sleeping chambers in this building. One is a thoughtful mixture of the oriental, the antique and the modern. It has a high vaulted takian-wood ceiling with heavy beams adorned with lamps designed from Chinese lanterns, and ceiling fans. A large dressing room with antique Chinese wardrobes separates the main suite from the other bedroom, which is perfect for children. Both suites share a shower room.

Walking further, and beyond a huge stone urn next to yet more ancient and exquisitely carved Chinese doors, is the Octagon living area: an open-sided sitting room which enjoys natural sea breezes and gorgeous views of the ocean. This great space has a high definition projector and screen. A kitchen is located here, cleverly raised so that its modern fittings and appliances are hidden from view. But the main feature of this area is the coffee table made from a huge slab of a rare, green river stone from Kanchanaburi, positioned above a natural piece of rock. Venture onto the balcony surrounding the Octagonal room, and a large, hand-made dining table for 8 guests can be found, so that meals semi-al fresco can be enjoyed while contemplating the panoramic views.

To the left, antique doors lead to teak steps ascending to an open-air bathroom, where a slab of natural granite rock has been used as the backdrop to the outdoor shower. Or choose to soak in the terrazzo bath tub. There are twin hand basins, and yet more Kanchanaburi stone is featured.

The downward aspect of the teak staircase leads down through the tropical gardens and on to steps made from the garden granite, and on to the yoga sala, located on the beach front of this impressive estate, and providing some unparalleled sea views. Meander on from the sala, through the delightful flora of the grounds to the garden suite, with immaculate terraced lawns and balconies. This pavilion has been built around the rock formations which dominate the main room, where there are distinct and comfortable living and sleeping areas. Natural ventilation and airflow are created by a chute rising from the back of the suite, and sliding doors can be opened wide for more cooling breezes and a touch of that all-important Thai outdoor style living. This suite contains its own projection screen and high-mounted projector.

Above this suite is the dining sala and the lawned pool terrace. The sala contains a vast 7m long table, crafted from reclaimed takian and discovered in a south of Thailand boatyard, which can comfortably accommodate 24. Here all the villa's guests plus friends can gather to entertain and be entertained. The stunning infinity pool has Balinese stone tiles, picked to match the exact colour of the sea below. On the lawns around the pool are plentiful sun loungers and parasols.

A complete century-old Balinese Temple is at the back of this level. It was dismantled and brought to Thailand then carefully reconstructed using the takian wood boat floors, carved teak panelling, the vaulted ceiling with high fans. There is also a projector and pull-down screen. The columns outside the temple come from India, and the lamps from Morocco. Behind double ancient doors there is a small path to a Bali kitchen, which has a dining table and a large Chinese store cupboard and modern western facilities and appliances. The views from here too are astounding.

At the back of the Bali Temple are the Bali bedrooms, two wonderful rooms furnished with a delightful mix of ancient Chinese and Indian windows and other fixtures. Designed to offer this villa's norm of ancient recycled woods, exposed naturally-occurring rocks and high, airy vaulted ceilings, and of course, those incredible views, these suites are a delight. One features an indoor bathroom and the other has an outdoor en suite, designed around the natural rock features.

There are two more en suite bedrooms situated on the way back to the main entrance, at the Tree House, secreted among the garden's tropical plants and the rocks. The Tree House also has a fully equipped kitchen.

This quite amazing property offers its guests the utmost in luxury and privacy, an astounding combination of modern facilities and ancient and reclaimed features... a haven of tranquillity for adults, and exciting adventures for children.
