This highly individual property has been designed to blend contemporary design with traditional Thai features. There are many high vaulted wood ceilings and foldaway glass doors, making the layout spacious and airy, and the decor is light and natural. There are only a few villas in this attractive beachside estate, which is just a short distance from the main road that offers views over to Ang Thong National Marine Park and an easy 30 minute drive to Koh Samui's International Airport and also Chaweng, the island's main tourist centre. The beach at Laem Noi is secluded and safe and in the summer low tide season the reef is dry for up to 100m, creating a large expanse of beach and reef for games and rock pooling.

The villa has an impressive entrance into its landscaped gardens through the high walls that surround the grounds, making it a very secure and private holiday home. Follow the natural pathway of reclaimed railway sleepers into the inner courtyard, and here a sandstone path meanders through the first level of tropical garden to the villa's two pavilions. The centre of the L-shape created by the pavilions encloses the infinity pool and sala.

The first pavilion is to the right and up a few steps. It overlooks the pool and garden and has views towards the ocean. On the ground floor is a bright lounge with blue curtains and cream L-shaped sofas, matching scatter cushions and wall artwork. The vaulted glass ceiling to this room makes it a very light area, but ceiling blinds help keep it comfortable. Located in a small alcove created by the floating staircase as it rises to the first floor is the satellite TV/DVD/CD system.

A door at the rear leads through into the master suite. This bedroom has a four-poster bed, a dressing area, and gorgeous views out through the large folding doors to the pool terrace. There are two large built-in robes either side of a doorway leading to the stunning bathroom, where black marble tops, slate walls, twin chrome hand basins, a corner Jacuzzi and a large mirror feature.

The open tread staircase takes you up to a first floor gallery with a stylish leather lounger. There is a second en-suite bedroom on this level, which has twin beds, fitted wardrobes, a relaxing chaise-longue and an en-suite shower room.

To the left as you leave this pavilion and just beyond a fragrant frangipani tree is the entrance to the second building that makes up this villa. The ground floor here, set below a vaulted wood ceiling, is a flexible area that can be opened into one sizeable living space or divided. The first area features a water hyacinth and teak day bed. Here there is also a free standing mirror, a wardrobe and a doorway into a bathroom with a walk-in shower. Folding wooden doors can separate this space from the adjoining dining room and create a private en-suite bedroom if required.

The centrally placed dining room has an antique-look wooden dining table for six, and a wood display cabinet. Beyond this is another lounge area and to the rear is a fully fitted and equipped western style kitchen, with breakfast bar, and walk-in store cupboard.

The blue-tiled infinity edge pool wraps around the sala which is at the beach end of the pool, balancing the frangipani tree at the other. It is furnished with sun loungers and the decking continues along to the side of the pavilion. In the part of the pool directly in front of the master-suite is a bench style Jacuzzi. The pool decking leads on into the garden, where there is a dining table and chairs for some al fresco dining, and a path leading to the private beach access.
