2 Bedroom Beach Front Villa with Pool at Bang Por Ko Samui
The attractive Bang Por estate that is home to this villa is a stylish design of individual contemporary and traditional Thai beachfront properties, creating an attractive and tranquil environment, yet only a short distance from the main road offering views over to the Ang Thong Marine Park. Nathon, the main town is a 5 minute drive and it's 30 minutes to Ko Samui's International Airport, and to Chaweng, the island's tourist centre.
The villa has beautiful landscaped gardens incorporating manicured lawns, a stone driveway, railway-sleeper pathways, with secure walls around it all, providing a great degree of privacy and sound reduction within. Inside, the fusion of both modern and traditional styles and furniture, natural materials and eye-catching designs, have created a holiday home that pleases and soothes. Both the bedrooms are air-conditioned and have en suites, and an additional guest bathroom is close to the kitchen. There is a stand-alone office building at the villa with complimentary broadband Wi-Fi Internet access for guests' use.
Once through the entrance to the property you enter a landscaped courtyard with a winding sandstone path meandering through the lush tropical flora, through a white archway and into the main area of the villa. On the left is the office, set behind a lawn and area of garden. Following the sandstone pathway further leads to the wood-floored main living pavilion which has a high sloping glass roof, and opening glass doors on three sides to this room, making it very light and bright. A vast L-shaped sofa is the focus of attention, facing the TV unit set in the recess created by the open-tread staircase which leads up to the second floor.
At the back of this room is the master bedroom suite, which too has a rich, dark-wood floor. The high headboard to the double bed is a patchwork of wooden bricks in natural tones, and the bed furnishings of cushions and silk runners mirror these colours in a range of cream, orange and brown. There are two large wood bedside lamps, giving the impression of statuary rather than lighting, and the quality brown wood theme continues with the oversized free-standing framed mirror and other bedroom furniture, including a beautiful flower painting on canvas. This room has large floor-to-ceiling glass doors which open out onto the garden and pool. The door to the bathroom is between the two built in wardrobes, and here is a wonderful blend of black granite, stone tiles, wood flooring and chrome fittings, with twin hand basins, a corner Jacuzzi bathtub and walk-in shower for that perfect touch of personal indulgence.
The first level of this pavilion has a gallery with two chic chairs and another flower painting on white, which matches those rising up the wall with the stairs. Access to the second bedroom is from the gallery, and this room mirrors the style and colouring of the master suite. There are twin beds with silk orange throws, flower prints on the wall, and built-in wardrobes through the middle of which is the door to the en suite bathroom, which has a wooden floor, wood counter top and a walk-in shower. From this bedroom there are views across the garden, pool and the beach and ocean.
Across the front of this pavilion is a terrace and a lawn with a feature Frangipani tree, separating it from the L-shaped pool and the next living pavilion. A decked sala, furnished with sun loungers, runs directly from the front of the pavilion and juts into the infinity-edge pool, which has its own Jacuzzi area.
The black granite floor of the pavilion contrasts with the room's individual and imaginative furnishings. In the entrance is a bamboo pod chair with orange cushions, while to the left is the open-plan fully fitted western-style kitchen. Behind the pod chair is a heavy teak dining table and six comfortable teak chairs. A guest bathroom with shower is to the left of the dining room, and folding glass doors open into a sun lounge with a further pod chair, matching footstool and a rattan daybed. A small hallway leads from the sunroom to a walk-in store cupboard with a window overlooking the garden, and housing another daybed.
The sala or the pretty garden can be accessed from the sun lounge, and the private entrance to the beach is at the end of the lawn. Also on the lawn there is an unusual beachside ceramic set of table and chairs at which to enjoy some refreshments, or watch the children on the beach. During the summer low tide season the reef can be dry for up to 100m, opening up the beach to ball games and other activities such as rock pool exploration.
